Closing the loop on food waste.

Every bag starts as something headed for the landfill. Our worms eat spent grounds from our friends at Nunatak Coffee, kitchen scraps from neighbors, and every leftover pumpkin we can haul home in the fall. What comes out the other end feeds your garden, and the nutrients that left your soil come back richer than before.

A family farm, from the ground up.

It started during the pandemic. I wanted to grow food for my family, and I learned fast that a great garden starts with great soil. Worms let me compost our kitchen scraps all year, even through a Wisconsin winter.

When I became a dad, it turned into something more: a way to show my daughter how much work goes into the food on her plate. Plus, she gets the weirdest pets on the block.

Easy to use. Impossible to overdo.

There's no wrong way to use castings. Here are the four we recommend most.

    1–2×a year

    Top-dress

    Sprinkle a layer around established plants and water it in.

  2. 02

    1 galper 50 sq ft

    Garden beds

    Mix it into your beds before planting.

  3. 03

    20–50%of the mix

    Potting soil

    Blend into potting mix. Not fruiting? 10–20% is plenty.

  4. 04

    1–2handfuls

    Transplants

    Toss a handful or two into each planting hole.
